About Costolio error codes

How we write and check each appliance error code page.

Where codes come from

Every code comes from the manufacturer's own support page or manual, on the manufacturer's own website or the document host it links to. We do not use forums, repair blogs or parts sellers.

How we check them

We cache each source and confirm that the code and key phrases appear in it. An automated word-level check then looks for the words of each meaning and fix in that code's own entry in the source: the text from the code (matched as a whole word, never inside another word) up to the next code, capped at about 700 characters after it and 120 before it, plus any exact passage the row quotes, such as a shared "what to do" block. The meaning must come from the code's own entry. It also looks for action words such as reset, replace or breaker in that same text. We aim for steps that touch gas, pilot, refrigerant, fuse, control board, wiring or power connection parts to be written as technician work, not only point to a technician afterwards. The automated check for this looks only for technician wording before those terms, so it can miss some phrasings. This check is word-level only: it catches wording the source does not use, but it does not prove the meaning is right. We also read a sample of rows against the source by hand.

Limits

Codes and fixes vary by model and year. Always confirm in the manual for your model. If a fix involves gas, electricity or opening a panel, follow the safety notes in your manual or call a qualified technician.
